Officer of the Smart Card Alliance Identity Council

A member of the Smart Card Alliance’s Identity Council since its establishment in 2006, Texas Instruments was elected to its leadership team in May 2007. The Council provides education on identity issues and technologies, and in its first years focused its efforts on new government electronic ID initiatives including REAL ID, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative and Enhanced Driver’s Licenses. Founding Member of the Secure ID Coalition

As a founding member of the Secure ID Coalition (SIDC), TI advocates the appropriate use of secure digital technologies in electronic documents and best practices that protect citizen privacy. TI participated in a number of sessions to educate policymakers at the National Conference of State Legislators in August 2006, and has since met with legislators at the State and Federal level to share their principles of privacy and their call for best practices and standards in securing identity information management programs.

RFID Technology Council Congressional Briefing

Julie England, vice president of Texas Instruments, spoke at the first meeting of this industry-led council in March 2007 on “RFID and Innovation: America’s Competitive Edge.” England said that to stay competitive, the U.S. needs to be “efficient, improve security and keep a stream of products moving.” The RFID Technology Council supports the U.S. Senate RFID Caucus in promoting the understanding of RFID technologies and their impact on the U.S. and global economy.

TI Leverages Government Expertise of Frank Moss

TI is tapping the expertise of a 32-year U.S. State Department veteran, Frank Moss, in its government electronic ID initiatives. Moss spent the last 4 years at deputy assistant secretary of state for passport services, and oversaw the development of the electronic passport in the U.S. After retiring from the State Department, Moss founded a consultancy, Identity Matters, LLC, and is presently working with a number of clients in the secure ID documents market.
