TIDA-00624
USB Type-A to USB Type-C SS (SuperSpeed) MUX with DFP controller reference design
TIDA-00624
Overview
This addapter converts a USB standard host type-A port to Type-C DFP (downstream-facing port) with support for default, 1.5 A and 3.0A VBUS current levels. The TUSB2522 simplifies the design by integrating 2:1 USB 3.1 (up to 10 Gbps) mux with a DFP controller to monitor the Type-C configuration channel (CC) pins to determine plug orientation for mux selection and device attachment for controlling VCONN and VBUS power switches.
Features
- Plug and Play design
- The Reference Design operates off of the 5-V VBUS input from the legacy Type A USB connection
- The Reference Design can provide VCONN over a CC pin based upon Type C plug orientation and Ra detection
- DIP switch is provided to configure CC for different Type C current mode operations
