Car access & security systems
Driving digital key systems forward with reliable communication
Why choose TI for your car access and security systems?
Industry expertise
As a Bluetooth Special Interest Group and CAN in Automation member, TI's Bluetooth LE wireless microcontrollers (MCUs) and CAN system basis chips (SBCs) enable car access and digital key solutions.
Minimize system costs
Design compact, affordable car access systems with our solutions. Our SBC integrates a CAN bus and power supply, while our Bluetooth LE system on a chip combines a Bluetooth LE radio and an MCU.
Reliable and certified solutions
Our products are proven and tested to meet automotive, emissions and regulatory compliance standards, ensuring seamless and secure vehicle entry and control.
Simplify development
Ensure secure Bluetooth LE communication and accelerate time to market with our automotive-optimized SimpleLink™ software development kit, following the Automotive Spice (ASPICE) project flow.
Enhance your digital key systems with our reliable, power-efficient, secure solutions
High accuracy, low cost and secure ranging with Bluetooth Channel Sounding
Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology uses phase-based ranging to enhance accuracy, and the round-trip time of random modulated data packets to enhance security. Bluetooth LE has lower peak-power requirements than ultra-wide band and enables communication and ranging in one technology.
The Bluetooth Channel Sounding feature extends the capabilities of Bluetooth wireless technology-based ranging beyond the limitations of received signal strength indication to help you create high accuracy, low cost and secured ranging designs.
Our Bluetooth LE products enable secure, efficient and reliable communication between vehicles and digital keys.
Through comprehensive development ecosystems and support for the latest Bluetooth LE standards, as well as Car Connectivity Consortium accordance, our products help manufacturers create secure digital key solutions.
Bluetooth LE, with its lower peak power requirements compared to ultra-wide band, enables communication and ranging with a single technology, making it ideal for longer distance ranging.
Our Connection Monitor diagnostic tool captures and analyzes Bluetooth LE packets transmitted between connected devices. It provides detailed information about connection parameters, including signal strength, channel use, connection events and data throughput.
Connection Monitor benefits car access systems by enhancing security, improving reliability, optimizing performance, and aiding in development and testing.
CAN-based SBCs enable seamless Bluetooth LE handover
Phone-as-a-key systems require accurate localization of a driver's phone as they approach their vehicle; seamless connection handovers help improve the user experience.
CAN SBCs simplify address encoding for Bluetooth LE connection handovers and triangulation in car access systems.
You can encode the Bluetooth LE address information within the SBC's ID pins and share it with other peer Bluetooth LE connections through the bus communication line.

Achieve reliable power efficiency with TI SBCs
Bluetooth LE anchors are always in advertising mode until a connection is established. Bluetooth LE needs to be powered on at all times without draining the battery.
Our Bluetooth LE and CAN SBCs work together to reduce overall battery power consumption while keeping the system powered.
These devices allow you to power Bluetooth LE devices with the power supply from the CAN SBC while maintaining a very low quiescent current. The integrated high-efficiency buck helps maintain a small battery current draw at both low (<100µA) and high load currents ( >100mA).
