The DAC8560 has been designed for single-supply operation; a bipolar output range is also possible using the circuit in Figure 71. This unipolar-to-bipolar signal conditioning circuit uses an operational amplifier (op amp) with negative feedback and three resistors in a modified summing amplifier configuration to generate high-voltage bipolar outputs. The DC transfer function is based on the ratio of the feedback resistor RFB and gain setting resistors RG1 and RG2. This design takes consideration for generating voltage outputs and for driving reactive loads such as long cables common in industrial process control applications. The circuit shown in Figure 72 gives an output voltage range greater than ±VREF.
