There must be no metal layer running beneath the transformer. Transformers can inject noise into metal beneath them, which can affect the performance of the system. Because the DP83822 is a current mode line driver design, the center tap pin on the device side of the transformer must be tied to the analog supply rail (AVD). De-coupling capacitors must be placed near the center tap pin of the transformer as shown in Figure 9-2.
