The FDC requires a voltage supply within 2.7V and 3.6V. TI recommends multilayer ceramic bypass X7R capacitors of 0.1μF and 1μF between the VDD and GND pins. If the supply is located more than a few inches from the FDC, additional bulk capacitance can be required in addition to the ceramic bypass capacitors. An electrolytic capacitor with a value of 10μF is a typical choice.
The optimum placement is closest to the VDD and GND pins of the device. Take care to minimize the loop area formed by the bypass capacitor connection, the VDD pin, and the GND pin of the device. See Figure 7-9 and Figure 7-12 for layout examples.
