Two types of measurement modes are available on the HDC2010: Trigger on Demand and Auto Mode.
Trigger on Demand is when each measurement reading are initiated through an I2C command on an as-needed basis. After the measurement is converted, the device remains in sleep mode until another I2C command is received.
Auto Measurement Mode is when the HDC2010 is programmed to perform measurement readings on a periodic basis, thus eliminating the need to initiate a measurement request through an I2C command and improves power consumption. The user can adjust the Soft Reset and Interrupt Configuration register to select one of 7 different sampling rates (the range spans from 1 sample every 2 minutes to 5 samples/second). In Auto Measurement Mode, the HDC2010 wakes up from sleep to measurement mode based on the selected sampling rate.
