Power Supply Recommendations

Put a 0.1-μF bypass capacitor at the input and output supply pins (VCC1 and VCC2) to make sure that operation is reliable at data rates and supply voltage. Put the capacitors as near to the supply pins as possible. If only one primary-side power supply is available in an application, use a transformer driver to help generate the isolated power for the secondary-side. Texas Instruments recommends the SN6501 device or SN6505A device. Refer to the SN6501 Transformer Driver for Isolated Power Supplies data sheet or SN6505 Low-Noise 1-A Transformer Drivers for Isolated Power Supplies data sheet for detailed power supply design and transformer selection recommendations.
