In this configuration R1 is installed in series with the output capacitor (COUT) as shown in Figure 22. The ripple current of the inductor passes through R1, generating a ripple voltage at VOUT. The minimum value for R1 is:
where ΔI is the minimum ripple current amplitude, which occurs at minimum VIN, and VRIPPLE is the peak to peak ripple voltage injected at the FB pin.
