8.2.1 Application Circuit: 12.5-V to 48-V Input and 10-V, 325-mA Output Buck Converter

The application schematic of a buck supply is shown in Figure 8-1. For output voltage (VOUT) above the maximum regulation threshold of VCC (8.55 V, see Section 6.5), the VCC pin can be connected to VOUT through a diode (D2), for higher efficiency and lower power dissipation in the IC.

The design example shown in Figure 8-1 uses equations from the Section 7.3 with component names provided in the Typical Application. Corresponding component designators from Figure 8-1 are also provided for each selected value.
