8.2.2.15 VIN Pin Capacitor

Place the required bypass capacitor close to the VIN pin of the LM5036 device. Ensure that the capacitance is large enough to limit the ripple of the VIN pin voltage to a desired level. Use Equation 90 to calculate the value of CIN required to meet the ripple voltage ∆VIN requirement.

Choosing a value of 0.5-V for ∆VIN yields a minimum CIN value of 0.12-µF. Select the standard value of 0.1-µF for this design. Ensure that the voltage rating of the input capacitor is greater than the maximum input voltage under all conditions.
