The LM61460 step-down DC-to-DC converter is typically used to convert a higher DC voltage to a lower DC voltage with a maximum output current of 6 A. Using a 4-layer LM61460EVM at 400kHz, the LM61460 can sustain a continuous 6 A load up to an ambient temperature of approximately 95⁰C; see Figure 9-2. If ambient temperature is 105°C and the frequency is set to 2.1 MHz, the current must be limited to 4 A; see Figure 9-3. The following design procedure can be used to select components for the LM61460.
