6.3.5 Charge Pump

Since the output stages use N-channel FETs, the device requires a gate-drive voltage higher than the VM power supply to turn-on the high-side FETs. The MCF8316D integrates a charge-pump circuit that generates a voltage above the VM supply for this purpose.

The charge pump requires two external capacitors (CCP, CFLY) for operation. See Figure 6-8 and Table 4-1 for details on these capacitors (value, connection, and so forth).
