The TCAN1164-Q1 includes many protection and diagnostic features including CAN bus line short-circuit detection, thermal shutdown (TSD), driver dominant timeout (TXD DTO), and bus fault protection up to ±58-V.

The TCAN1164-Q1 supports watchdog funcitonality, ensuring the system is healthy by requiring the processor to reset the watchdog timer within a time window.
