9.2.2 Detailed Design Procedure

To begin the design process, the designer must decide on a few parameters, as follows:

  • Vsupply: LED supply voltage
  • VLEDx: LED forward voltage
  • ILED: LED current
  • RON: Resistance for each output channels when it is on, 1-Ω typical, TA = 25°C

With these parameters determined, the resistor in series with the LED can be calculated by using the Equation 3:
