Overview

The TPS25980x device is a smart eFuse with integrated power switch that is used to manage load voltage and load current. The device starts its operation by monitoring the IN bus. When VIN is above the Undervoltage Protection threshold (VUVP) and below the Overvoltage Protection threshold (VOVP), the device samples the EN/UVLO pin. A high level on this pin enables the internal MOSFET to start conducting and allow current to flow from IN to OUT. When EN/UVLO is held low, the internal MOSFET is turned off. After a successful start-up sequence, the device now actively monitors its load current, input voltage and protects the load from harmful overcurrent and overvoltage conditions. The device also relies on a built-in thermal sense circuit to shut down and protect itself in case the device internal temperature (TJ) exceeds the safe operating conditions.
