After selecting the inductor, the output capacitor must be optimized. In D-CAP3 control mode, the regulator reacts within one cycle to the change in the duty cycle, so good transient performance can be achieved without needing large amounts of output capacitance. The recommended output capacitance range is given in Table 7-2 and Table 7-3. Ceramic capacitors have very low ESR making ESR ripple negligible, otherwise the maximum ESR of the capacitor must be less than VOUT(ripple)/IOUT(ripple).
