Maximum Output Voltage

The TPS7H4011 has a maximum output voltage due to the minimum off time, toff(min). This minimum off time is not due to an internal charge pump like some buck regulators. Instead, the minimum off time is to ensure switching noise and internal circuitry behavior does not cause excessive duty cycle jitter. The maximum output voltage is approximated by Equation 2.

In this equation:

  • VOUT(max) is the maximum possible output voltage
  • VIN is the input voltage for the application
  • toff(min) is the minimum off-time
  • fSW is the switching frequency

Table 8-2 shows calculated maximum output voltages for selected values of fSW and VIN assuming toff(min) = 306ns.
