PRODUCTION DATA
The output capacitors are required to attenuate the discontinuous output current of the BOOST converter, as well as decreasing the output voltage undershoot and overshoot during load transient. The total required output capacitor, COUT, can be found from Equation 42, where fSW is replaced with 2 × 200 kHz = 400 kHz for two-phase operation.
COUT ≥ 84 µF
10 × 4.7-µF, 100-V ceramic capacitors are used in parallel, at the output of each phase, to achieve a combined required output capacitance. It is important to note that the CV Boost output capacitor also plays an important role in decreasing the output undershoot and overshoot voltage during load transient.
