USB SSTX1/2 Receiver Configuration

Configuring the TUSB521-Q1 involves understanding the insertion loss (SDD21) of the pre-channel (LAB). Set the SSEQ[1:0] pins of the device when in pin-strap mode, or the SSEQ2_SEL and SSEQ1_SEL registers when in I2C mode, to the level of the pre-channel insertion loss at 5GHz. A good rule for FR4 trace insertion loss at 5GHz is approximately equal to –1dB per inch. Using this rule, program the TUSB521-Q1 SSEQ to –8dB if the pre-channel for the USB (XAB) is 8 inches.
