SLVSED6A December 2017 – March 2018 TVS2700
PRODUCTION DATA.
A typical operation for the TVS2700 would be in a multi-channel PLC protecting an analog input, shown in Figure 10. In this example, a TVS2700 is protecting the input to a MUX36D04, a four channel input multiplexer with a supply max at 36 V. Without any input protection, if a surge event is caused by lightning, coupling, ringing, or any other fault condition this input voltage will rise to hundreds of volts for multiple microseconds, violating the absolute maximum input voltage and harming the device. An ideal surge protection diode will maximize the useable voltage range while still clamping at a safe level for the system, so TI's Flat-Clamp technology provides the best protection solution.
