8.5.7.2.4 Clock Counting

Another method to determine when data are ready is to count clock cycles. This method is only possible using an external clock because the internal clock oscillator is not observable. After synchronization or conversion start, the number of clock cycles is larger compared to the normal conversion data period. The initial number of clock cycles is equal to the latency time of the digital filter as listed in the Section 8.3.5 section.
