During closed loop acceleration/deceleration, MCF8316D provides the option of configuring the slew rate of the reference input. This allows for a linear change in reference input (speed or power or current or modulation index) even when there is a step change in reference input (from Analog, PWM, Frequency or I2C) as seen in Figure 6-39. This slew rate can be configured so as to prevent sudden changes in the torque applied to the motor which could result in acoustic noise. The closed loop acceleration/deceleration slew rate parameter, CL_ACC/CL_DEC, sets the slew rate of the reference during acceleration and deceleration respectively.
