Attempts to write Section 7.6.82 to any value outside those specified as valid, will be considered invalid/unsupported data and cause TPS546A24A to respond by flagging the appropriate status bits and notifying the host according to the PMBus 1.3.1 Part II specification section 10.9.3.
Section 7.6.82 controls the operation of the BCX_CLK and BCX_DAT pins. If the TPS546A24A powers up with Section 7.6.82 equal to 0000h (Stand Alone) the BCX_CLK and BCX_DAT functionality is disabled. Changing Section 7.6.82 to a Multi-phase configuration will not enable BCX communication until the next power-up. To program slave devices connected to a Master device that was powered up with Section 7.6.82 = 0000h, program Section 7.6.84 to default Section 7.6.82 to NVM by setting bit 12 = 0b, Section 7.6.7 and cycle AVIN power below its UVLO prior to programing other commands in order to enable BCX communication and allow the Master device to relay commands to the slave devices.
Section 7.6.82 can be changed from 0001h to 0003h to 0000h - 0003h live without requiring an AVIN power cycle since the BCX_CLK and BCX_DAT function is enabled at power up.
