9.1.3.1 Input Capacitor

For most applications, 22 µF nominal is sufficient and recommended. The input capacitor buffers the input voltage for transient events and decouples the converter from the supply. TI recommends a low-ESR multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) for the best filtering and must be placed between VIN and GND as close as possible to those pins.
