The SN74HCS00 contains four independent 2-input NAND gates with Schmitt-trigger inputs. Each gate performs the Boolean function: Y = A × B. The device has a wide operating voltage range of 2 V to 6 V and has a typical supply current of 100 nA. The SN74HCS00 is used to combine the outputs from the different Hall switches to produce one output that tells the system when it should be in sleep or active mode. This specific device was selected because of its low current consumption and cost.
