Faults were simulated with an additional wire running through the magnetic toroidal core with the 3 phase and neutral line. The additional wire was connected to a separate power supply and controllable load to control the fault current amplitude and confirm circuit trip levels of 6-mA DC or 30-mARMS. In addition to threshold testing, the GPIO of the MCU was measured to confirm when the system detected a fault and determine system response time.
