1 System Description

Electric vehicles (EVs), including plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), receive energy from the electrical grid through electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), more commonly known as EV chargers. To facilitate the power delivery to the vehicle, the EVSE sits between a stable grid connection and the vehicle as shown in Figure 1-1.
