Integrated Protection

Because multiplexers are integrated ICs, they often will incorporate additional features that are not found on mechanical relays or Photorelays. One example of this is overvoltage protection, where the switch will automatically open if an overvoltage event is detected. This can be extremely useful in harsh industrial environments to protect sensitive ICs downstream.
