A double-bit ECC data error, or single-bit ECC address error in a RAM read triggers an NMI. This applies to CPU and DMA reads. Single-bit ECC data errors do not trigger an NMI, but can optionally trigger a normal peripheral interrupt. For more information on RAM error detection, see Section 3.11.8.
