DLPU041G April 2016 – July 2024 DLPC230-Q1 , DLPC230S-Q1
Some applications are temperature-sensitive and show side effects at higher temperatures, requiring active cooling solutions such as fans. For systems that using dimming, the DLPC230-Q1 offers a dimming level override function. It is intended to self-monitor a system temperature level and automatically update the dimming level. In general, lower dimming level will result in reduced heating due to lower brightness. Note that this function also supports hysteresis to avoid switching back and forth between temperature regions and dimming levels. This hysteresis is applied only as the temperature decreases to a "safer" condition. A 2-Dimensional LUT stored inside DLPC230 flash defines transition temperatures and dimming override levels for this automated function. These parameters, which include enable/disable, temperature thresholds, dimming level percentage, and hysteresis, must be specified in the Automotive DLP Composer(TM) Automotive tool. Figure 5-22 shows an example. See dimming level override commands 40h-44h, starting with Section 8.2.38.
