System Settings

Click the System Settings button at the top of the GUI to display the System Settings panel shown in Figure 6-3.

DLPC900 System
Settings Panel Figure 6-3 System Settings Panel

Within the System Settings panel, the user can control the orientation of the image, the LEDs, and the optical inversion.

  • Image Orientation – Depending on the orientation of the projected image, the image can require to be flipped on the short or long axis. The East/West Flip setting causes the image to be flipped on the long axis. The North/South Flip setting causes the image to be flipped on the short axis. This setting must be set before any Pattern LUT updates are sent to the DLPC900 and the pattern sequence must be in the stopped state.
    • The East/West setting causes the image to be flipped on the long axis. This setting must be set before any Pattern LUT updates are sent to the DLPC900 and the pattern sequence must be in the stopped state.
    • The North/South setting causes the image to be flipped on the short axis. This setting must be set before any Pattern LUT updates are sent to the DLPC900 and the pattern sequence must be in the stopped state.
  • LED Controls – The LED controls allow the user to manually control the state of the LEDs or allow the internal DLPC900 sequencer to control.
Note: If the LEDs are disabled in manual control, then the LEDs must be enabled before switching to automatic control (internal DLPC900 sequencer).
The LED current regulates the brightness of the LEDs. Setting the Invert PWM causes the LED currents to have an opposite effect on the LEDs as the current is changed. When manipulating the LED frequency and current, TI recommends to think of the led current value from 0-255 (0.39% per step) as the duty cycle where 255 equals approximately 100% (99.61%) Internally the software then calculates the PWM value depending on the set frequency and duty cycle. Setting the Invert PWM changes the polarity of the PWM signal which causes the LED currents to have an opposite effect on the LEDs as the current is changed.

Note: DLP LightCrafter Single DLPC900 EVMs do not come with LEDs or optical engines of any kind.

  • Pattern Display Invert Data – This setting allows the user to invert the data to the DMD. The setting must be set before any Pattern LUT updates are sent to the DLPC900 and the pattern sequence must be in the stopped state. This setting is not applicable to Video Mode.
  • DMD Park – This setting allows the user to park and un-park the DMD. Using the isolated Park/Un-park command is no longer recommended except for debugging purposes. If the Display Mode is set to pre-stored pattern mode, or Video Pattern mode or Pattern On-The-Fly mode, then the pattern sequence must be stopped prior to execution of this command.
  • DMD Faults:
    • DLPA200 Fault - Only applies to the DLP5500 DMD. The user can read the status of the DLPA200, displayed as a checked box for any of the following: thermal fault, voltage fault, and current fault.
    • DMD Communication Error - Get the status result of the controller query of the DMD type (typically only queried during initialization).
