This is the lowest power mode for the device. This mode can be entered only if the BQ27Z561-R2 has entered SLEEP mode. In this mode, all measurement and clocking circuits are turned off; thus, the mode should only be entered when no charging or discharging of the battery is expected (for instance, when the pack is out of the system). Table 3-1 and Table 3-2 show the conditions for entry and exit of the mode.

The BQ27Z561-R2 can be configured to reenter HIBERNATE mode in the case of errant communication or noise on the I2C communication bus. Table 3-2 shows the configuration items for the mode.
