Introduction

The TPS51388 is a single, D-CAP3™ control mode, synchronous buck converter requiring a very low external component count. The TPS51388 synchronous buck converter used in the EVM has the following features:

  • 4.5V to 24V input voltage range
  • 0.6V to 5.5V output voltage range
  • Integrated 9.2mΩ/ 4.5mΩ MOSFET
  • Support 12A continuous output current
  • 90uA low quiescent current
  • ±1.0% output voltage accuracy at 25°C
  • D-CAP3™ for fast transient response
  • Selectable switching frequency of 600kHz and 1000kHz
  • Selectable Eco-mode™ and OOA™ mode under light load operation with dynamic change

This user's guide describes the characteristics, operation, performance, and use of the Texas Instruments' TPS51388 evaluation module (EVM). The TPS51388EVM is designed to help user easily evaluate and test the operation and functionality of the TPS51388. This user's guide includes the following:

  • Setup instructions for the hardware
  • Printed-circuit board layouts for the EVM
  • Schematic diagram
  • Bills of material
  • Test results for the EVM
