8.3.8 Analog Multiplexer

The TPS65217x device has an analog multiplexer (mux) that provides access to critical system voltages. The voltages that can be measured by an ADC at the MUX_OUT pin are as follows:

  • Battery voltage (VBAT)
  • System voltage (VSYS)
  • Temperature-sense voltage (VTS), and
  • VICHARGE, a voltage proportional to the charging current, and
  • MUX_IN, an external input pin to monitor an additional system voltage

In addition, one external input is available. The VBAT and VSYS voltages are divided by three (for example, MUX_OUT = VBAT / 3) to be compatible with the input-voltage range of the ADC that resides on the system-host side. The output of the MUX is buffered and can drive a maximum of 1-mA load current.
