Temperature Sensor Data

The TMAG5173-Q1 will measure temperature from –40°C to 170°C. The temperature sensor data are stored in T_MSB_RESULT and T_LSB_RESULT registers. Figure 7-16 shows the sensor output stored in a 16-bit 2's complement format in two 8-bit registers. The data can be retrieved as 16-bit format combining both MSB and LSB registers, or as 8-bit format through the MSB register.

Use Equation 19 to calculate the measured temperature in degree Celsius for 16-bit data, and use Equation 21 to calculate the measured temperature for 8-bit data.

Equation 12. T = T S E N S _ T 0 + T A D C _ T - T A D C _ T 0 T A D C _ R E S
Equation 13. T = T S E N S _ T 0 + 256 × T A D C _ T - T A D C _ T 0 256 T A D C _ R E S

where

  • T is the measured temperature in degree Celsius.
  • TSENS_T0 as listed in the Electrical Characteristics table.
  • TADC_RES is the change in ADC code per degree Celsius.
  • TADC_T0 as listed in the Electrical Characteristics table.
  • TADC_T is the measured ADC code for temperature T.
