The TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO) engine is useful in offloading the TCP segmentation functions to the hardware. The TSO also supports UDP Segmentation Offload (USO) in which the UDP payload is segmented in the hardware. There are no sequencing/ordering controls available or updated in the segments, so the TSO can be used in point-to-point applications in which out of order packets are not expected by the receiver. The description and flow of TSO mentioned in this section is same as USO, any deviation is provided as notes.
