2.4 Crystal ESR

The Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) is the resistance the crystal exhibits at the series resonant frequency. Since shunt capacitance (CO) is typically on the order of 1 pF and usually CL >> CO, ESR is approximately RM for many crystals, sometimes ESR is approximated as motional resistance.
