2.4.1.5 Fast and Slow Switches

Given the calculation of IIN_RMS(max), all current ratings of the switches should be greater than 10.8 A. In a CCM totem pole PFC, a GaN switch is required for the fast bridge. The 70-mΩ GaN LMG3410R070 was selected, which is recommended for 12-A IDS on 125℃ Tj.

The slow bridge is only line frequency switching, so the minimum RDS(on) is preferred for better efficiency. To save space, the Toshiba® 50-mΩ MOSFET TK39A60W was chosen. This device has a low RDS(on) with a TO220 package that is available on the market.
