This design includes a boost converter capable of investigating PoDL functionalities in a broad range of use cases. This includes the need for a boost converter family which is able to boost the 12V input voltage up to 48V.
For a final implementation, consider if a boost converter is required or not. Using a boost converter which is optimized for the final application is recommended. When using PoDL to supply low-power applications like a camera or RADAR module, consider using an already available 12V stabilized rail available on the domain, zone controller. In this case, no boost converter is required. This recommendation is based on the fact that the expected power required of the PD is less than 10W. In case more power is needed at the PD, consider using one of the boost converters listed in Table 3-2.
