New EVs have higher ranges and larger battery capacities than their predecessors, necessitating the development of fast DC charging solutions. Higher switching frequencies along with wide band gap devices are used for power conversion and microcontrollers used in these systems need to offer accurate current/voltage measurement, faster execution of control algorithms and update PWM enabling real time control. Learn about Texas Instruments new offering in C2000 MCU, flexibility of key peripherals and reference designs for charging solutions. We will be joined by Würth Elektronik, who will cover how to optimize the EMC in AC/DC and DC/DC converter and realize a transformer with good EMI characteristics, plus highlights on the most used filtering topologies.

This session will cover:

  • Power topologies used in EV charging
  • Overview of C2000 ePWM module, configurable logic blocks, ADC
  • Protection of power converters
  • Reference designs
  • How to get started with C2000 MCUs

Speakers:

  • Navaneeth Kumar, application manager at Texas Instruments
  • Angelo Strati, field application engineer at Würth Elektronik
