Point cloud visualization for robotics using TI's mmWave sensor

Hi. My name is John Herrington. I'm an application engineer in TI's mmWave Radar Sensors business. Often, we get asked about the point cloud that our mmWave devices can generate and how this can be used for occupancy grids or classification. This demonstration shows our IWR 1443 mmWave EVM connected to a Linux laptop running Robot OS and using the popular RVIS visualization tool to generate a point cloud of a person walking back and forth in front of the mmWave EVM. We collect data points from the radar sensor over a quarter of a second time period to produce a rich point cloud allowing visualization of people and even see arm and leg movements.
