  • Diodes only permit current flow in on direction.
  • Diodes can be modeled at various levels of complexity; simple models accelerate analysis.
  • Schottky diodes switch faster with no reverse recovery and lower loss.
  • Zener diodes have a controlled reverse-current breakdown that is useful as a reference or protection.
