TVS diodes

Transient protection for a connected world

parametric-filterView all products
TVS diodes protect power and data lines from system-destroying surges of current that can occur due to indirect lightning strikes, frequent load changes, and coupling between parallel cables. As more data is pushed through lines across all electronics, TVS diodes need to lower their capacitance to remain 'invisible' during normal operation. TI's TVS diodes with industry leading capacitance are here to meet this need.

Expanding package options for drop-in replacement

Bring TI's benefits without changing your layout with growing offerings in common packages like SOD-323.

Innovations in TVS diodes

Protection for increasing data rates

TVS diodes are meant to protect datalines without affecting the signal during normal operation. The lower the capacitance, the greater the data rate a diode can protect while maintaining this invisibility. As systems increase the throughput of data through communication lines, it makes sense to evaluate whether previously-used TVS diodes have the capacitance to support. TI's TSM family of TVS diodes can allow designers to cut TVS capacitances in half compared to common SMA-packaged parts.

High-surge, low-compromise

Most TVS diodes have a gap of greater than 10-V between working voltage and clamping voltage. This means that downstream ICs must be able to handle voltages at least 10-V greater than the line voltage in order for the diode to effectively protect them. TI's flat-clamp diodes not only reduce this gap, but also ensure the clamping voltage stays constant throughout a surge event.
