Description for the AFE7955

The AFE7955 is a high performance, wide bandwidth multi-channel transceiver, integrating two RF sampling transmitter chains and 3 RF sampling receiver chains. With operation up to 12GHz, this device enables direct RF sampling in the L, S, C and X-band frequency ranges without the need for additional frequency conversions stages. This improvement in density and flexibility enables high-channel-count, multi-mission systems.

The TX signal paths support interpolation and digital up conversion options that deliver up to 1200MHz of signal bandwidth per TX channel. The output of the DUCs drives a 12-GSPS DAC (digital to analog converter) with a mixed mode output option to enhance 2nd Nyquist operation. The DAC output includes a variable gain amplifier (TX DSA) with 40dB range and 1-dB analog and 0.125dB digital steps.

Two receiver chains includes a 25dB range DSA (Digital Step Attenuator), followed by a 3GSPS ADC (analog-to-digital converter). The two receiver channels have an analog peak power detector and various digital power detectors to assist an external or internal autonomous automatic gain controller, and RF overload detectors for device reliability protection. Flexible decimation options provide optimization of signal bandwidth of up to 1200MHz per RX channel.

An additional receiver channel has a single wideband DDC supporting up to 1200MHz bandwidth.

Carrier options

You can choose different carrier options based on the quantity of parts, including full reel, custom reel, cut tape, tube or tray.

A custom reel is a continuous length of cut tape from one reel to maintain lot- and date-code traceability, built to the exact quantity requested. Following industry standards, a brass shim connects an 18-inch leader and trailer on both sides of the cut tape for direct feeding into automated assembly machines. TI includes a reeling fee for custom reel orders.

Cut tape is a length of tape cut from a reel. TI may fulfill orders using multiple strips of cut tapes or boxes to satisfy the quantity requested.

TI often ships tube or tray devices inside a box or in the tube or tray, depending on inventory availability. We pack all tapes, tubes or sample boxes according to internal electrostatic discharge and moisture-sensitivity-level protection requirements.
