This message defines the control structure for a set of acknowledgements indicating the results of the syntactic analysis of electronically encoded documents. These encoded documents are the messages, which are grouped by function and used in defining transactions for business data interchange. Most companies will always send a functional acknowledgement and expect their trading partners to do the same.
