The strategic forecast supports a process in which a forecast owner sends forecast data to a forecast recipient. The forecast is informational only. This may be any kind of forecast including but not limited to a sales forecast, capacity forecast, demand forecast, marketing forecast, or master schedule pre-MRP run forecast. It is usually a mid-term to long-term forecast. There is no implied or embedded automated mechanism to trigger shipment release to the forecast owner.
