Active noise cancellation (ANC) microphone

Block diagram

Overview

ANC microphones capture noise sources for processing in a DSP and also provide in-cabin feedback for tuning of the ANC algorithm. These microphones are typically digital MEMS devices attached to an audio-specific bus but can also be analog-output and digitized through an audio ADC near the DSP.

Design requirements

  • Low group delay and latency for a better noise cancellation experience
  • >16 bit  resolution for accuracy
  • Minimal system component count for small form-factor ECUs
