Overview

Automotive displays have evolved from the early days of a small screen with a few knobs and buttons to become the primary pathway to present important vehicle information to drivers and passengers. The center information display of an infotainment system can feature a wide range of interactive content, such as navigation, cabin temperature controls and music or entertainment information. This display typically receives information from the head unit, which is attached remotely with high-speed interfaces. We have complementary technology that powers, connects and enables immersive user experiences with automotive displays without becoming a driver distraction.

Design requirements

Modern automotive center information display designs often require:

  • High-efficiency power supplies for liquid crystal display (LCD) backlight, bias voltage and gamma control to support low-power consumption and multi-rail requirements.
  • High-speed serial receivers for data interface to enable higher bandwidth operation and reduce cabling cost.
  • Touch and gesture sensors to allow innovative and intuitive user interfaces.
  • Haptic drivers to enhance user experience and safety with tactile feedback.
  • Optical light sensors control dimming to improve display clarity in dynamic lighting environments
  • Temperature sensors monitor ambient temperature to ensure equipment runs at proper conditions.
