Head-up display

Block diagram

Overview

An automotive head-up display (HUD) provides information to the driver at eye level. This allows the driver to continue looking at the road while getting speed and other information. The HUD is either projected on a section of the windshield or on a transparent surface between the driver and the windshield. More sophisticated HUDs are used to create the appearance of an overlay on the road for turn-by-turn navigation. The HUD information is typically provided by the cluster. We have the technology to power, connect and create the HUD display.

Design requirements

  • DLP® technology creates high-quality displays
  • High-efficiency power supplies for all HUD power requirements including LED display illumination.
  • Motor drivers for HUD positioning.
  • High-speed serial receivers for data interface enable higher bandwidth operation and reduce cabling cost.
  • Temperature sensors that monitor ambient temperature to ensure equipment runs at proper conditions.
  • Optical light sensors control dimming to improve display clarity in dynamic lighting environments.
